Beautiful piano music drifted from behind the tightly closed wooden door to the music room. The windows were dark as night had claimed the earth, the panes slightly frosted. A dark head was bent over the old baby grand piano, long, pale fingers moving slowly and softly, lovingly, across the ivory keys.
Eyes were closed, not reading or playing a written song, simply letting it flow. The end result was pleasant to the ear, though she was not sure if one could hear her, seeing as most were asleep. She didn't know if she was supposed to be in her room, but this place had been calling to her. A single candle sat to light the room, held up by a column of darkness. Its glow reflected off of many instruments, brass, wind, every kind.
The strings loomed in one corner, though a violin was propped up beside the girl as she played. Candlelight glimmered on its shinning wooden surface, it had recently been played.

Michael couldn't sleep. He was tossing and turning in his sleep. His thoughts were on his step mother Morana. He had always been mad at her for leaving not just him but Rose too. He sat up and threw his sheets off of him. He put on some jeans and walked out of his quarters. He wasn't wearing a shirt but only the vampires were up at this time. Rose was up. He thought about going to her room but he changed his mind.
Michael heard some music coming from the music room. He wondered who was playing so beautifully. He stood at the doorway seeing Arieta. He stood there not making a sound. He leaned against the door frame. He listened for her and smiled. On his right arm was a dagger tied around it. It was always on him but it was hard to see it in this darkness. He wasn't going to use it. He continued to listen to her play.

Ari was so into her music that she forgot to sense for humans or other patients, she began to sing, turning the tune into an actual song.
"Look at me, You may think you see, Who I really am, But you’ll never know me, Every day, is as if I play apart, Now I see, If I wear a mask, I can fool the world, But I can not fool, My heart, Who is that girl I see, Staring straight back at me? When will my reflection show, Who I am inside? I am now, In a world where I have to, Hide my heart, And what I believe in, But somehow, I will show the world, What’s inside my heart, And be loved for who I am, Who is that girl I see, Staring straight back at me? Why is my reflection, Someone I don’t know? Must I pretend that i’m, Someone else for all time? When will my reflection show, Who I am inside? There’s a heart that must, Be free to fly, That burns with a need, To know the reason why, Why must we all conceal, What we think, How we feel, Must there be a secret me, I’m forced to hide? I won’t pretend that i’m, Someone else, For all time, When will my reflections show, Who I am inside? When will my reflections show, Who I am inside?"
A rip-off from Mulan of course, but she thought it was a beautiful song. Her lips formed the last line in tune with the music, but she continued to play for a few more chords. Finally, she stopped and opened her eyes, pulling the lid down over the keys before laying her arms and it and closing her eyes once more, a tear trickling out. Why had they sent that letter today? Why did they have to remind her?

Michael listened to Arieta singing that beaui=tiful song. She was a good musican. He was impressed to say the least. He smiled hearing out the last note. He looked at her as the music stopped. He didn't want her to stop but he didn't move. She was sad. He wasn't a blind fool. He could see that much. He saw the tear fall down her face.
"You play well Arieta," said mIchael. He made his presence knew after a while. He stopped leaning against the door frame.

Ari glanced up slowly, her violet eyes a bit misty. The trail of the lone water drop showed in the pale light. She ran a hand over the trail and wiped that on the old jeans she wore. It was a simple outfit, fading jeans and a black tank top. She'd been in bed when she'd decided to go out. Seeing more clearly who it was, she took the candle off the darkness column and let it fade. Slowly making her way over, she stopped about ten feet from Michael. "You couldn't sleep either?" she asked softly, not asking how long he had been listening.

"Bad memories kept me up. What about you?" asked Michael. He was surprised with how well he come see at night. Arieta had to turned the candle and walked toward him. He realized he was without his shirt in front of her. He noticed she was far better dressed than him at the moment. He crossed his arms across his bare chest. At least he was good body. He was toned but he was embarrased all the same.
Michael moved closer to Arieta. He stood a few feet away from her. He wished he wore some shoes as well. He looked over at the piano. He use to play a long time ago.

Arieta mulled this over, should she tell him? 'No, he has no right to know the real truth.' she thought as she watched his well muscled body move towards her. "I was feeling a bit sick." that wasn't a lie at all, after reading the letter that stuck out of her back jeans pocket, she had wanted to vomit almost.

"Are you feeling better now? I could take to a medical room if you're not feeling well. Does this place even have a medical room?" asked Michael. He wasn't sure if it did. He would have to check that out some time. He looked her over. She didn't look sick. He saw a piece of paper sticking out of her pocket. He didn't ask about it though. It was none of his business. Letters were for the owner's eyes only. He doubt this institute did that.

"Much better now, thank you for your concern." she said gently, lowering her eyes slightly. She looked over at the piano and threw the window as the full moon came out. Slowly walking over, she blew out the candle and watched it, the room now bathed in moon glow. Turning her head ever so slightly to look over at Michael, she asked him a question. "Do you play?"

"You're welcome," said Michael. He watched as Arieta blew out the candle. He saw how the moonlight gave the room light. He smiled looking at the moon. He loved staring the moon on the night it showed its face. He was surprised he wasn't bited by any werewolves with all the times he wandered on full moon nights. He always carried a silver dagger though. He turned his head toward Arieta.
"Yes but I haven't in a long time," said Michael. He walked over to the piano. He touched it gently. He smiled at some happier memories. "You play much better than I could," he said in a rich vioce.

"Threw music one can escape the horrors life throws at them, it is with something perfect you can feel that way yourself." she whispered softly, closing her eyes and placing one hand on the chilly pane. Her breath showed on the glass.

"Very well spoken Arieta. Music can do that but it can bring bad memories with. Re-tell old tales that are better forgotten," said Michael. He sat down on the piano bench. He lifted the lid up and rested his fingers on the keys. He wasn't sure what to play or if he still could. He pressed down on the c note.

Ari shivered as the note soared threw the air, and it had nothing to do with the dropping temperature. Slowly making her way back over to the piano, she watched Michael.

Michael began to play more notes. He didn't noticed at first Arieta had walked over to the piano. He nodded to her as he played on. It was melancholy sounding song but very elegantly. It was an old foreign song he heard a long time ago. It was sang in Latin. It was beautiful and sad sounding. Anything in Latin sounded like that. He stopped playing and looked at her.
"I don't remember this rest," said Michael. He closed the lid.

Arieta had closed her eyes as the music played, entranced by the melody. Hearing it come to a stop, she blinked them open. “Please, make up some more, it’s to beautiful to stop.” She whispered, staring directly into Michael’s eyes.
